Cows Gossip Too
Remember the talking California cows, who won over TV audiences starting in 2000 with their laid-back attitudes and snappy banter. The world has changed a lot since then, but in a new series of ads, the cows have evolved with it—they’re just as comfortable in your high-tech home and complicated family life as they were on their own California farms.
In a new series of California Milk Advisory Board ads directed with a deft comic touch by Fred Savage (Yes, that Fred Savage), the California cows join everyday families—and a world of texting, Facebook, and lip synch videos. They show that no matter how much the world has shifted, California milk and dairy products remain an important part of it.
Consumers who’ve watched the spots say that we’ve managed to make funny and relevant spots in a category that is sometimes sleepy. In fact, they hear the dialogue and say, “That’s my family, exactly!”
The first spot in the series, “Friends,” shows a cow breaking down for a mom her daughter’s complicated social life, using the same code words and technology that the teenager does. Upcoming spots will show the cows going deeper into modern family life.
Ever wonder how they get the cows talking? Well, turn out it’s not by bribing them. This making the video shows behind the scenes footage of how Deutsch LA teamed up with Method studios to make it happen.
