Victoria Guenier, Deutsch LA’s Director of Content Production, continues to work her magic in movies— and this time, the agency is getting involved.
Victoria’s latest feature is “Between Us,” which she executive produced alongside her husband, producer Hans Ritter. Slamdance co-founder Dan Mirvish directed the adaptation of an Off-Broadway play. It chronicles two couples, played by Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs, Melissa George and David Harbour. In a darkly comedic turn of dramatic events, the couples experience two unpredictable nights together challenged by their marriages, children, money, sex, success, and trust.
The film is one of the first ventures from Deutsch LA’s Side Project Project, an initiative that encourages employees to present their ideas for creative business ventures to the agency. The ideas that are chosen receive financial backing and creative resources from Deutsch, which acts as the agency for the side projects.
Victoria’s pitch asked for help to fund and create original promotional media to support the film’s release, and Deutsch made this a reality by lending employee talents.
Associate Design Director Rick Granados crafted the poster, which evokes the Hitchcockian feel of the movie. The teaser was cut by Peter Judson in Mr. Ed, Deutsch’s in-house editorial facility.
Both the poster and teaser have boosted publicity for “Between Us” as it continues its world tour of 14 festivals seeking distribution. The film has screened at film festivals in Memphis, Virginia, Napa Valley, St, Louis, Brisbane, Gijon, New York, and beyond.
